Man Dies in Hit-and-Run in Panama

In Coclé province, Panama, a 32-year-old man named Rufino Rodríguez was found dead Monday morning. He was the victim of a hit-and-run that occurred on the main road in La Villita, located in the El Potrero district, La Pintada area, Coclé province. As was his custom, Rufino had gone to play cards on Sunday not far from his home, but after 2:00 AM, death surprised him as he was returning. A vehicle ran him over and its driver left his body abandoned in the middle of the road, heading towards El Copé. Unfortunately, it was the driver of a white sedan who discovered the body after he also ran over it in the dark road. The second driver told authorities he was heading home when he saw a bundle on the road, but it was too late to swerve, so he ran over it. Upon hearing the crash it caused, he got out to check what he had hit, and it was at that moment he realized it was a person. Responsibly, the 63-year-old man called the police to report the incident. It was during the body recovery procedure that authorities determined that Rufino—who was identified by a relative—had been previously run over by another vehicle, which took his life.
